Is Windows XP Compatible On My Desktop?

So I purchased a used HP Compaq Elite 8000 CM from Craigslist, and it had Linux Debian installed on it. I would like to reinstall Windows onto it (the previous owners removed Windows completely so there is no dual boot option), but the software I would like to use on it functions best in Windows XP. Are its specs okay for XP? It has 4GB of RAM, Intel Core processor, and was made for Windows 7. Thanks for the help!

You check at HP's website to see if HP supplies XP drivers for your exact model number.

Yes definitely, Madam/Sir you can install Windows XP on this CPU.

Before that I must recommend you to slipstream the SATA/AHCI drivers onto the ISO file of Windows XP (if you have any) using nLite so that you do not encounter a BSOD when the setup starts.

    Please refer this article:-

    https://www.terabyteunlimited.com/howto/howto-xp-sata.htm

Also, the links for downloading the SATA/AHCI drivers for your CPU is as follows:-

    https://whp-aus2.cold.extweb.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52252.exe

After downloading this file, I recommend you to extract all the files using WinRar and please make sure WinRar extracts the files in the same folder you downloaded the file through above link so as to avoid hassles to searching the extracted files.

Now, in the folder containing the extracted files, please look for a folder titled "Deployment". Navigate into that folder and then look for the folders "f6flpy32" and "f6flpy64". Depending on the architecture of Windows XP copy you have with you right now (i.e., check whether it is x86 or x64 version of Windows XP), and then you must identify only one folder out of "f6flpy32" and "f6flpy64" that would match.

After this, you only have to follow the steps from the link that takes you to the guide of nLite.

However, please try whether the installation media you have right now (either disc or USB) successfully loads the setup without any BSOD. If any BSOD occurs then you must install the SATA/AHCI drivers.
