laptop screen keeps dimming unexpectedly

My daughter's high end HP laptop with Windows 10 has a screen issue. While she is working graphic design, like with the pen, many times the screen goes very dim unexpectedly while she is working.  Her laptop, like mine when you go into the advanced power options does NOT have adaptive brightness, like so many posts all over the internet suggest it might be the problem. You can't turn on or off something that you don't have.

Can someone please advise us how to fix this issue?

Thank you,

Frank

    Hi Frank,

I'm Louie, a Microsoft Community member and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. Hope you're doing well and safe there.

If you can't find adaptive brightness on your laptop you can try the steps provided on the link below:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/70157-enabl...

On the other hand if your still having issues with your screen, you can follow the steps below to fix the issue:

    1. Turn off the Sensor Monitoring service by pressing Win + R and typing services.msc. Then press Enter
    2. In the services window, click on the Sensor Monitoring Service which will lead to the service settings window
    3. Click Stop and select Disabled from the drop-down menu found next to the Startup type
    4. Save changes by clicking OK
