Unknown USB Device (Link in compliance mode) code 43

Hello,

Does anyone know how to fix this problem with a USB device, I have tried every method I can find online. I have update the USB drivers in device manager, uninstalled the USB Hub, updated my BIOS, and still it acts and sounds like I am connecting and disconnecting a USB device, it just keeps doing this like it is stuck. This all started when I updated my computer via windows update. I am running Windows 10 64 bit. I have even re-formatted and cleaned my hard drive and re-installed Windows 10 64 bit, I have cleared my CMOS and taken out the battery to no avail. I have tried what this guy said on this YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w3aeYWHhJk&list=LL5klP_4wLiL6EjPXkyIk3mg&index=12&t=0s said to try. The only devices I have installed are a mouse and keyboard., card reader and extra USB 3.0 ports. I have disconnected these devices and it still does this when these devices are disconnected. The motherboard is a Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3.

Best regards,

DanFeeney1

Hi, here is the link to the Asrock support site Asrock Z68 Extreme 4 Gen 3 downloads for this specific motherboard.

On that page, from the "Select your OS:" pull down menu, choose "Beta Zone".

You will then find "[Beta] Etron USB 3.0 driver ver:1.0.0.118" listed.

I chose the Global Download link Etron USB 3.0 Drivers and installed it.

    Still works fine here.

Note, the specs list on the Asrock support site states the controller is a "Etron EJ168A", if you search the web for that controller, you will find the link to the official Etron web site "http://www.etron.com/cn/products/u3hc_detial.php?Product_ID=1" that lists the same "1.0.0.118" driver.

It seems they also have a .119 driver which I haven't tried.

    Regards

    Xavier

Hello, I had the same problem on the same motherboard (Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3). From the Asrock support website I downloaded and installed the "[Beta] Etron USB 3.0 driver ver:1.0.0.118" from the beta zone even though it is not flagged for Windows 10. I haven't had any reoccurence of the issue since. Hopefully that will help.

    Regards

    Xavier

    Greg,

I downloaded DriverMax and they had a deal on it for $2.99 for 30 day subscription so I purchased it for 30 days. It updated my drivers but did not fix the USB issue. Back to square one, it is the USB.inf driver - Here is some more info from device manager

    • Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

The SuperSpeed link to the USB device keeps going to an error state Compliance. If the device is removable, remove the device and then disable/enable from device manager to recover.

    Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0008\6&e45e8c&1&3 was configured.

    Driver Name: usb.inf

    Class Guid: {36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000}

    Driver Date: 06/21/2006

    Driver Version: 10.0.19041.1

    Driver Provider: Microsoft

    Driver Section: BADDEVICE.Dev.NT

    Driver Rank: 0xFF0000

    Matching Device Id: USB\PORT_LINK_COMPLIANCE_MODE

    Outranked Drivers: usb.inf:USB\PORT_LINK_COMPLIANCE_MODE:00FF2000

    Device Updated: false

    Parent Device: USB\ROOT_HUB30\5&706fdfd&1&0

    Thanks,

    Dan

Hi Dan. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...

If the problem repeats then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninsta...

Update the driver following this guide to this trace the Hardware ID to determine what the device is, then import the driver from the PC maker's Support Downloads web page for your full model number, Serial or Dell Service tag on sticker on PC:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post resolved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
