Windows 10 installation on m.2 nvme ssd

Hi everyone!

I am trying to install Microsoft Windows 10 as a second OS on my brand new PC with M/B: Gigabyte z390 UD and SSD M.2 1TB GigaByte. This is the only drive installed and it seems that Windows cannot detect any drive on my computer, however Fedora Linux (as well as any other) works perfectly fine right out of the box. I googled that and found some tips but it didn't help. I tried disabling CSM, secure

boot, fast boot, I tried enabling all that mentioned as well - same behavior. I can obviously buy an additional SSD and connect to SATA, but I don't think it’s worth. I have plenty of space on my 1TB drive and I created special empty partition for Windows.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues with installing Windows 10 on SSD, and I certainly appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve the issue.

We will certainly look into this for you.

Based on the information you have provided, the issue can occur if Windows is unable to find the storage drivers for the PC. I am assuming that you are using an Intel Motherboard, you may need to install the Intel Rapid Storage drivers to proceed further with the installation.

You need to download the f6flpy-x64.zip file available on downloads section of Intel Rapid Storage drivers on Intel website, and save it on a different USB device. After saving the file to the USB, plug in the drive during installation and then select the load drivers option to find and locate the storage drivers from the USB.

Let us know if you need any further assistance, we will be glad to assist you.

    Regards,

    Prakhar Khare

Perhaps you should try the Gigabyte website forum. I'd have thought the pre-install driver would be what you need to allow the installation process to see the M2 drive.

The only other thing is a bios update for the motherboard.

I tried to download all the drivers, but it doesn't find anything compatible. I also tried to download f6flpy-x64.zip, but Windows didn't find any compatible drivers there.

I tried Intel Optane memory driver from https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z390-UD-rev-10/support#support-dl-driver-sataraidahci

and selected Intel (R) NVMe Controller, but it didn't find any compatible driver either.

The same thing actually. I had to uncheck "hide drivers that are not compatible..." to see those drivers.
