I need help finding out how to block a child from downloading apps in Windows10.

I have a Microsoft Family account setup, with several child accounts attached. Only the parent account is an Administrator. My child is somehow able to install other browsers (Brave, Opera, Waterfox - so far). First, these shouldn't work once installed since the Family account settings is supposed to block all other browsers other than Edge. However, I don't think a non-Administrator account should be able to install programs in Windows10 (not from the store - that part is disabled within the Family settings).

Can anyone help here? How do I prevent apps from being downloaded and installed?

    I just want to piggy back on this.  I have much the same situation.  I am the administrator and I have 4 kids set up.  I have one as locked down as I can get.  He isn't supposed to have access to any browser, other than Edge.  

    I did the same thing.  To 'test' the security I went to Chrome and downloaded it.  I was then asked for an admin PIN. I clicked No but immediately got a 'you can download Chrome without an admin password' button and voila, I was able to download (and then use) Chrome. Which, completely defeats trying to lock down a tech savvy curious kid.

    If I download Firefox or Chrome for myself on the Admin account, it then shows up on his login page.  Occasionally, the Family settings blocks Chrome access, but it doesn't block Firefox access.

    Help!  I really like the features to lock out specific websites and that works great...when there is only access to Edge.

    Is there supposed to an actual item called "Family Safety Troubleshooter"? There isn't anything by that name where you described.

    To open Family Options, go to Start, then select Settings> Update and Security> Windows Security> Family Options

    I can't find how to run the Family Safety Troubleshooter. Is it for win10 Pro? Can you tell me where to find this?

    I have just discovered what may be the issue, or is perhaps another issue. WHen I was trying to see what might have been done, I attempted to download waterfox browser. I got a pop in indicating I needed an admin password. (WHich was great to see.) However, after being on that screen for a minute or two, it disappeared and waterfox installer kicked off. I was able to install the app using my child's non-admin account.

    So, perhaps something more serious is wrong here? I would hope that simply waiting on the 'admin account needed' screen doesn't circumvent the whole windows security settings!!??

    Usually this issue is caused due to some settings related issues or due to not having security software conflict. I would suggest you to try the following methods and check if it works for you.

    Method 1:

    Run the Family Safety Troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    Refresh the Family Safety Filters and check if the web filtering is working fine or not.

    If you have installed any third party security software on your computer, then try disabling it and check if the issue persists.
