Changing Default Camera to Logitech External USB Camera

I want to set the default camera for videos (e.g., GoToMeeting, Skype, Zoom) to a USB-connected Logitech Webcam PRO 9000.  I have downloaded the Logitech software and confirmed the camera is working.

However, while I see the Logitech device in Control Panel -> Devices and Printers, I cannot change that camera to the default camera by right-clicking on it.  There is no option for that, only Sound Settings, Create Shortcut, Remove Device, Troubleshoot, and Properties.  Troubleshoot found no problems, and there is nothing under Properties to allow me to set it as the default camera device.

I also tried disabling the default built-in camera under Device Manager first.  That didn't fix the above issue either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bryan

    This doesn't really help.

Like in my case. I actually use 2 cameras and can't disable one of them all the time.

In most apps this is no issue. but there are a few apps, including Microsoft Camera App, where you can only use the default camera.

Please. We need to find a way to change the default camera....

What the previous poster said +1

Wasted several hours wondering why the internal camera was being used when I have an external better quality camera.

It seems there's no way to specify the default for chromium based webconferencing and if the internal one is available then it is used and the droplist in the browser to change camera is inconveniently greyed out so you can't change it.

Enabling or disabling devices in device manager, requiring a reboot, is absolutely not a solution.

Hi Bryan. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

To change default webcam in Windows 10 from internal to External you only need to disable the internal cam in Device Manager, not set it as default in Devices & Printers (which is being phased out).

See the best tutorial on this here:

    https://smallbusiness.chron.com/switching-lapto...

There will be more camera controls in the Camera app in the Start Menu All-Apps list:

I hope this helps. Based on the results you report back I may have other suggestions if necessary. If you will wait to choose whether the problem is resolved, then I will continue to help until the problem is fixed
