Screen Recorder Software recommendations (preferably downloadable)

After that UK Amazon distributor that got delisted, I don't really trust reviews that are on an app's listing. Any recommendations of screen recorder apps.

I want to be able to do screen capture with audio. My experience has been that downloadable products are less glitchy because browser compatibility can be iffy.

Hello again! It's been a while. I hope you are doing well.

So.... The Xbox Game Bar screen recorder saves the files as .mp4 files. On my computer they are saved to File Explorer in the Videos > Captures folder. You can share the .mp4 file on YouTube or wherever you like.

I think it's simpler because it's pre-installed, but that's just my opinion. I like how I can easily change settings in the Settings app (like turning off recording the mouse pointer or changing the framerate). However, one negative about Game Bar captures is that it only records at up 1080p. I don't need 4k video, but some people might prefer it.

I hope this answers your question(s). If it does, you can mark this post as a suitable answer by clicking the button below.

Many people like Camtasia from Techsmith. There is a free trial you can use to test it, but the product isn't free.

How does the built-in screen recorder compare to third-party options? I'm mostly wondering about sharing after the fact.

In Windows 10, there is built in screen recording. It is called Xbox GameBar and is mainly for recording games, but can be used for most apps. Press the Windows key + G to open the overlay. There is a button that says “Capture.” Click that and it should begin recording (to stop recording, click the stop button that appears afterwards). Note that the volume will probably have to be turned on to capture audio.
