Send me your system info by running msinfo32.exe > File > Save.

You can upload the NFO file to OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or some other file sharing service and share the link here.

I have a Lenovo Laptop. Maybe if I tell you what is happening you could help. For one it takes a while to load, from logging in it can take a couple mins to boot up. When I pull Chrome up it will take a little to load Google. I also run Ring Central Meetings. When I load Ring Central to enter a meeting it will start to not respond. I was told my System is lagging. I am trying to get it to run in top speed and performance. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Hi and thanks for reaching out. My name is William. I'm a Microsoft Windows Certified Professional and Systems Administrator. I'll be happy to help you out today.

The disk defrag process does not clear browser caches or remove any other data for that matter. That said, disk defrag already runs as a scheduled task. Additionally, disk defrag does not offer any major performance advantages if you using an older spindle-type disk (magnetic platters). This is because, as the drive ages, the mechanical components wear down and are not as efficient while doing read/writes. To overcome this, upgrade to a modern SSD drive.

I can assure you without any doubt that manual defragmenting, 'cleaning' your hard drive and clearing your caches and cookies will have no affect on the speed of your computer.

In addition, it was conclusively shown years ago that defragmenting in excess of what Windows does on its own doesn't accomplish anything of lasting value. The defrag pass will take much longer than the amount of time you will save over the lifetime of the hard drive.

If your computer is running slowly, there are several things you can do to help it run faster. In no particular order:

    • Reduce the number of programs running in the background.
    • Remove malware, including non-malicious exploits (that are not likely to be detected by your anti-virus software) such as cryptojackers.
    • Eliminate unnecessary background scanning.
