To,

Microsoft Community

I am Gavin. Using Microsoft Windows 10 Version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.610) OS on My HP Laptop Model Number: HP-14am090TU.

Currently i have kept My Laptop Brightness to Normal to10% as shown in Screeen Shot below.

But when i Charge My Laptop, then the Screen Brightness slightly increases by 1% i.e from 10% to 11%, but after i remove the Charge it comes back to Normal i.e 10%.

What can be reason for Slight Increase in Brightness while Laptop is being charged. How do i bix the slight increase in Brightness.

Also would like to know is there is any option where i can keep Auto or Adaptive Brightness, means Laptop will Automatically adust My Brightness according to light in the room

Please check & help me regarding Brightness Issue.

Thanks & Regards,

Gavin

    For adaptative brightness:

    1. Press Windows key + I to open Configuration.
    2. Click on System.
    3. Click on Display in the left column.
    4. Under the brightness slider, there should be an adaptative brightness option.

If not, we can try to enable it:

    1. Search for 'Control Panel' in the Search bar.
    2. On the top-right Search bar, look for 'Power'.
    3. On Power tab, there are many sections. Choose: 'Customise power plan'.
    4. There, under the two colums, there should be a link for 'Advanced power settings'.
    5. In the new window, scroll down to the Display tab and open it.
    6. There should be a setting for adaptative brightness.

If these don't work, probably Adaptative Brightness is not available in your system (it isn't available in mine, for example).

    Good afternoon Gavin!

The brightness increase and decrease when plugged in/out happens because of power options. Let's check them here:

    1. Search for 'Control Panel' in the Search bar.
    2. On the top-right Search bar, look for 'Power'.
    3. On Power tab, there are many sections. Choose: 'Customise power plan'.
    4. There it'll show two columns: On battery and Plugged in.
    5. If there is a brightness slider, just choose which brightness level you want on battery, and which one you want while plugged in.

Check that, and let me know how it goes!

    Miguel Ángel :)
