Cannot see the language bar in the task bar and cannot switch language

My OS is windows 10 Home 19041.572. I've installed all updates, and the recent updates may break the language.

The 1st problem is I cannot see the language icon in the task bar anymore, even if the language is on in the taskbar settings(by default it is on and I didn't touch it).

The 2nd problem is that I cannot switch the language. I uninstalled the language package and reinstalled it again. It still didn't work. Any hot keys ctrl + space or ctrl + switch are not working anymore.

The 3rd problem is that I cannot select the keyboard. The options are greyed out and desktop only. I'm using a desktop and the tablet mode has been disabled.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that language bar doesn’t appear on your computer. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

    1.     Are you aware of any changes made to the computer prior to this issue?

    2.     Does this happen with a specific language pack?

I suggest you refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned below and see if that helps:

    Enable Language Bar in Settings:

    1.     Press Windows logo key + I, to open Settings.

    2.     Click on Devices and select Typing on the left pane.

    3.     Click on Advanced keyboard settings.

    4.     Click on Language bar options.

    5.     Select the checkbox for Show additional Language bar icons in the taskbar and Show text labels on the Language bar.

    Change Registry settings:

We can try changing the registry settings and check if that helps.

**Note:**Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Refer the article How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

I would also recommend you to create a system restore point.

    1.     Press Windows logo key + R, to open Settings.

    2.     Type regedit and click on OK.

    3.     Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar

    4.     On the right pane, double click on the DWORD ShowStatus change the Value data to 4.

    5.     Click on OK and restart the computer.

    New user account:

Try creating a new user account and see if you are facing the same issue. Refer the article Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,
