Minecraft Java 1.16.2 suddenly wont load past the red mojang loading screen

I've been playing on Realms with my friend for a while now, and not messing with any in-game settings or minecraft game folders. And two weeks ago I went to load minecraft as normal, and it gets stuck near the end of the red mojang loading screen and the window freezes but everything is usable around the now stuck mojang screen. No idea as to why either, my trouble shooting included: restarting my computer, checking launcher settings, wifi, sign out then sign in, and finally uninstall minecraft and reinstall it. I've emailed mojang support and they still haven't responded so that's why I'm asking the question here. My laptop is a fully capable MSI gaming laptop so it should be able to handle a loading screen. I appreciate any help, thanks.

Hi RJ. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

    1. Run the Store apps troubleshooter at Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
    2. Try resetting Minecraft in Windows Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Minecraft > Advanced Options > Repair or Reset. Restart PC and try again.

If those all fail then uninstall Minecraft from Settings above, restart PC, reinstall from MS Store Hub (three dots at top right of Store app) > My Library.

    1. The Display driver is so important here that merely updating it is sometimes not enough. So let's try everything possible to get it working correctly:

Update the Display driver from the PC or Display adapter maker's Support Downloads web page for your exact model number, HP Serial Number or Dell Service Tag - from the sticker on the PC.

While there check also for newer chipset, BIOS/UEFI firmware (very important), network, sound, USB3 and other drivers, comparing to the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

If this doesn't give you the latest or ideal driver for what you need, compare it to the driver offered by the Intel driver update Utility here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/...

or the Nvidia Update utility here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=e...

or the AMD autodect utility here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/P...

For Display issues one fix that is working is to Roll back or Uninstall the Driver on the Display Device > Driver tab, restart PC to reinstall driver.

You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick.

Then you will know you've tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers.

Adjust the screen resolution until it fits and looks best at Settings > System > Display.

    1. See if you can System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-system-r...

System Restore is your first line of defense and can take you back to a point before a problem began. If it doesn't help then you can undo it. Read about it first in the tutorial above and then try restoring to just before this started.

If the problem repeats then check which Windows Updates were installed at Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Update History, uninstall them there or System Restore again, then immediately check for and block the Updates with the Hide Updates tool explained here: https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninsta...

    1. If this was caused by a Version Update then for 10 days you can roll it back in Settings>Update & Security>Recovery and then hide it until it matures using the Hide Updates Tool which is explained more here:

    https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninsta....

If that doesn't work you can also Go Back in Repair Mode as shown here:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post resolved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

The instructions you are giving only works for windows 10 edition on Windows appstore. Java edition isn't on appstore. OP is asking for help for java.

My son had this same issue with the Minecraft Java Edition on Windows, where the red Mojang loading screen would start loading but get stuck partway and just freeze that window until he killed it via the Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC). We figured it out the other night from someone else's post that it was adware. I downloaded Malwarebyte's free AdwCleaner app, which detected something like 7 different suspicious files. After it quarantined those files and we restarted the computer, Minecraft loaded up fine.

    Good luck!

I fixed this by downloading AdwCleaner, a free and really reliable virus cleaner. Got like 21 items adware found which were not showing on my useless windows defender. Cleared them through AdwCleaner, restarted PC and minecraft worked again. Give it a try.

    Good luck!

I am also having the issue of game crashing on the Mojang screen, it worked fine the first time I launched it but not again since. I have been googling this for weeks now and have tried pretty much every forum fix.

Like this one, which im worried messed up other things.

I don't normally even play the Windows 10 version, I play java and it works fine, but a friend has it on PS4 and this was the only way we could cross play.
