Can't attach Excel document to gmail

Recently, I tried many times to attached an Excel document to gmail, but it didn't go through. Could anybody give me a hand? Thank you!

    OK that is very strange, could you then, as a last suggestion, drag the file from your document folder, onto the gmail window and see if that works?

    To attach an Office file to a GMail message, simply drag the file icon onto the message body.

    Hi Elise,

    We are using Google Chrome to access Gmail. There is no any error message but freeze screen. I did click the paper clip icon and tried to attach the excel file (even it is 20kB).
