Windows Defender SmartScreen managed by Administrator

Today morning, I started browsing through the Windows Security app.

I found that Check apps and files [App and Browser control > Reputation-based protection settings > Check apps and files] is grayed out and a message appears "This setting is managed by your administrator." But I am the only Administrator on my

laptop.

My Windows 10 version is 20H2.

Security and Intelligence is also updated.

So, I haven't checked SmartScreen Settings before. Is this the default state of this setting? Or not? If not, then how can I turn this on?

Everything else on Windows Security works fine, atleast till now.

    Hi Dhruv,

I believe that you may find the solution to your problem by using this link.

If you have W10 Pro, scroll down to the Group Policy procedure.

If you do not have Pro, scroll on down to the Registry Edit procedure.

Choose the "Enable" option for either.

    Any questions, please reply.

    Good luck,  Glen

    Thanks.

The GPedit didn't work, but the Registry worked.

I just deleted the key, and the dreaded message disappeared.

    Thanks again.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Sadly, I don't have such a key (Computer\HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender\DisableAntiSpyware)

Can you, please, suggest me someting else that I can do to solve my problem?
