Is it possible for an iPad, on the same wi-fi network as a Windows desktop machine, to access the hard drive on that desktop computer?

    Hi Yanecsy.

Thanks for the response but I'm still stuck.

    1. There's no sign of an iPad button in the upper left of the iTunes window, no sign of an iPad button anywhere.
    2. What I was hoping for was the equivalent of remote access, i.e. similar to how a Windows laptop can use Windows Explorer to "see" the drives/folders on my desktop machine. I'd like to be able to do this:

        - I'm sitting remote from the desktop computer, using my iPad, and decide that I'd like to work on a document that's on the desktop hard drive

        - I'd like something like a Files utility that allows me to see that hard drive folder and retrieve a doc file from it, even if it has to go through an intermediate step like OneDrive.

Hi, George999(2) I'm Yanecsy and I'm an independent advisor.

    I'm here to help you.

Transfer files between iPad and Windows PC

    Connect iPad to Windows PC.

You can connect via USB, or if you've set up syncing over Wi-Fi, you can use a Wi-Fi connection.

In the iTunes app on your Windows PC, click the iPad button in the upper left of the iTunes window.

Click "Shared Files," select an app from the list, and do one of the following:

Transfer a file from iPad to computer: Select the file you want to transfer from the list on the right, click "Save in," select the location to save the file, and click Save.

Transfer a file from your computer to the iPad: Click Add, select the file you want to transfer, and then click Add.

To delete a file from the iPad, select it, press the Delete key, and then click Delete.

You can use iCloud Drive to keep your files up to date and accessible on all your devices, including a Windows PC. You can also transfer files between iPad and other devices using AirDrop or as attachments in emails.

    Regards.

    Yanecsy

    Yes, and it's easy.
