Hello, I would like to make Large Icon the default view mode in Windows 10 File Explorer.  And I have tried these steps:

  1. Open File Explorer
  2. Open a folder and on the Home Tab, in the Layout section, choose Large Icons or whatever is your preferred view
  3. Then click the Options button at the end of the View Tibbon
  4. On the View Tab on the resulting dialog, click 'Apply to folders' and confirm that
  5. Click Apply and OK

But when I get to step 4, the "Apply to folders" is not active, as you can see in the screenshot I attached

can someone help me, please?

Hi Greg, thank you for answering but I guess you didn't read my question fully, because I mentioned that I followed exactly those steps you just shared, but the problem is that the "Apply to folders" button is not active.

I even included a screenshot to show what is the problem

To set your Explorer default view to Large icons view globally, have it apply to all new folders, and never get reverted back to Microsoft defaults, you can use a tool I wrote. It's called WinSetView and it's available on GitHub. See the Readme for full details.
