Microsoft LifeCam 3000

I bought an MS LifeCam HD-3000 a week ago - not expensive, but Microsoft brand, so thought it would do the basic job I needed for connecting on MS Teams in a work from home environment.  In Teams I can swap between my HP laptop cam and the LifeCam.  I mounted the LifeCam on my main monitor, but when activated it, it was like I was peering out of a dungeon - really dark.  I didn't have time to figure out why, so I swapped to the HP which is off to the side.  When I did have time, I searched the Web high and low for ways to access the settings for the LifeCam so that I could adjust brightness / contrast / colour - just the basics.  After a week of intermittent searching, am I actually correct in understanding that these adjustments are just not available at all?  I'm not yet willing to believe such a major failure in what looks to be a decent bit of hardware. Someone please tell me I'm wrong!

If you take a quick look at the Camera app, you will notice the little gear icon in the top left corner; that's for Settings.

I suggest maximizing your Camera app then clicking the Settings icon - otherwise, it simply doesn't show up.

At the top of the bar on the left you should see "Pro mode."  Make sure that is "On" and then go back to the full Camera screen.

On the left side of your screen, below the timer, you will now see a small icon.  That is now the Brightness and you can adjust it.

You are absolutely correct that there should be a full control panel to adjust brightness, contrast, etc. but there just isn't.

    Best of luck.

This is actually very useful! It is in the built in camera app. In which, you can actually switch between the builtin camera and the webcam.

There is a button at the top right corner to do the switch (very similar to the button you use to switch between front and rear cameras in your phone).

It will continue to pulse and shift even when you're making the adjustment in this menu.

I am tired of people on microsoft answers giving these boiler plate responses that clearly indicate that have no experience addressing the issues people present. We all deserve refunds for this defective product you clearly paid for positive reviews for.

yup, found the Camera App, toggled the Pro mode option, and after manually setting brightness up, my HD 3000 settings stuck, so now other apps don't automatically adjust brightness.

No idea how long these settings hold (eg after reboot), but it works right now.

I have a Mac so I couldn't use the Windows app but this one works for me!

    Hope it helps! :)
