My Boot drive went to RAW and Windows does not load or repair

PC was working fine for months with no issues and then my PC crashed and booting up it said "No Boot Device Found. Press any key to reboot".

I selected F2 on next boot and see all the drives listed and in the same order.

Read up on it and many sites say to run chkdsk x: /f but I cannot access the drive.

Tried booting up from Windows installation and then getting to advance and then to DOS as Admin but it then says:

CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives

I removed the drive and tried from my external caddy but my other machine locks up on Disk Management but it will show it up as RAW eventually after a long while. I cannot initialize, format or any other option s on right click. Drive is not online or Device is not ready.

I also have EaseUS and it is not listed and that also hangs for sometime.

Is there anything else I can try to recover the info on that drive?

Tried many other free tools but they do not see the drive listed. Only Disk Management and shows it as Basic and RAW.

Is all hope gone....Must be another 2020 thing....

    Hello Pablo!

    Thank you for the reply.

At first I had tried with my Windows 10 USB and tried already to do a Windows 10 repair but that failed.

I also under Windows Repair advanced tried the DOS as Admin and tried to Format the drive but it being RAW it was not successful either.

Windows does not see the Drive structure fully. It sees it as RAW and goes as far as to assign it a letter but that is all.

I have tried placing it as main drive on 2 laptops and another desktop and not getting further.

If I place it on my External USB Drive Caddy it will be given a drive letter but cannot do anything else.

I get the hour glass when in Disk Management and nothing loads and just reads "Loading Disk Configuration Information..."

From This PC I can right click and after a few seconds i get the menu and try to format but get nothing in return.

At one point in Disk Management I was able to see it and it read as RAW and Basic.

I was able to right click and try a few of the available options like format, offline and stuff but keep getting drive not ready

and i was not able to delete volume either.

Seems this thing is totally crapped out and i lost all my data for my Twitch Streaming and other stuff.

Thanks again but this has become hopeless. My bag of magic dust is empty. Ha ha.

    Hi, JoseG1313

My name is Pablo E, I am an Independent Advisor. I would love to help you today.

Try entering Safe Mode to repair Windows.

Force power off, press and hold the power switch for 20 seconds, then wait for ten and restart

If this does not work try the other way: you must interrupt the normal boot process three or more consecutive times: use the reset or power button on your Windows 10 PC to stop it during startup, before you finish loading Windows 10. Yes use the power button, you may have to hold it down for at least 5 seconds to force the power off

Then you proceed to repair the computer:

-Turn on your computer for the third time, and let it load.

-You should receive this message: Preparing Automatic Repair.

-On the next screen that appears, click Advanced options.

    -Select Troubleshoot.

    -Go to Advanced options.

    -Click Start Repair.

-Wait for the repair to finish.

If after the previous steps you cannot recover Windows.

You can repair Windows download the ISO:

I recommend you borrow a PC to create a USB to repair Windows

Microsoft Official Website to download and create Windows 10:
