PS Remote Play won't launch

I've been using PS Remote Play for months and had no issues. However, after the most recent Windows 10 update, I can't get it to launch. When I try to launch it, the program will start and the Checking for Updates progress bar makes it about halfway, then it just vanishes with no error messages or anything.

I have checked task manager to make sure it's not running somehow and it's not. I have uninstalled & reinstalled it, I have uninstalled the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 (as per a suggestion on Reddit) but that didn't work either. All my drivers are updated, as is my operating system. I have also made sure that PlayStation Remote Play is allowed through Windows Firewall.

Anyone have any thoughts on what the issue might be?

Thanks for your help.

My laptop specs are:

Windows 10 64

Intel Graphics 530

nVidia GTX 960m

Intel i7

Windows for home | Windows 10 | Windows update

    Guys, it worked!

You only need to install redist package of VC 2015, 2017, and 2019.

    Google [ the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads ] and download x86 version of Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019 (vc_redist.x86.exe).

Thank you for help and hope it works for others too.

There has to be a better option than a system restore.

This update took nearly 6 hours to download & install, and I've spent hours fixing other problems related to it.

Is there no way to find out exactly why this is happening? Is there anywhere I can look for error logs or something?

System restores can't be the answer to everything every time Microsoft releases an update that breaks half of everything. There has to be another way.

My guess is that there is an issue with one of the Windows Updates.  Which one?  I have no idea and I'm tired of spending my life trying to figure out what else Microsoft screwed up while pretending to "fix" my system.  So, until there is a fix, I've given up myself.

Why do I think it was an update?

    1.  It used to work months ago, but doesn't anymore.

    2.  It doesn't work with brand new windows 10 builds.

    3.  I just fixed another problem that one of the updates changed permissions on both of the the c:\Program Files directories to Read Only, which is a fairly major screwup.   Makes me wonder what else they hosed on this or other updates and I'm tired of searching.

    My guesses:

    1.  Permissions issue with registry

    2.  Permissions issue with file system

    3.  .NET files not tested completely

    4.  Just plain broken windows

    Timing:

I noticed this after a new build and patch of Windows around early September 2020.

Good luck!  Please let us know if you all figure anything out.

    Had same issue.

Fresh win install, latest build 20H2.

I solved my issue by installing additional 'Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable'

    i installed Visual Studio 2003, 2015, 2017 и 2019 (both x32 and x64) and its solved my problem(dont sure witch one exactly)

    P.S. hope it will help
