How can I speed up my PC?

Hi

I am a person who uses Windows 10 daily. I want to speed up my PC a little bit. Somedays it is fast. But some days it is really slow. I have tried deleting files from temp, %temp%, prefetch and recent. That helped a little. I tried disabling apps from startup. But that didn't help so much. I tried disabling background apps which was not at all helpful to speed up my PC. I ran disk cleanup. That saved some space. But still sometimes the PC is very slow. It's booting time has decreased after I did all these things. I had also reinstalled Windows which was the main thing that made the PC faster. But after a few days after reinstall, it started slowing again. So please help me speed it up.

Kind regards

Lvr19

In addition to installing more RAM, Windows has some settings that may take more RAM than necessary. This includes animations and special effects. To do this:

    1. Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.
    2. Type sysdm.cpl and click OK to launch System Properties.
    3. Under "Performance," click the Settings button. On "Performance Options," under "Visual Effects," select the Adjust for best performance option to disable all the effects and animations.
    4. Click Apply.
    5. Click OK.

Doing this may increase battery life and reduce system resource usage.

I hope I was helpful and have a good day!

A PC works slowly because it's been given too much work to do. The solution: Give it less work to do. You can accomplish that in two ways.

The most obvious way is to have fewer applications starting with Windows and running in the background. To get a handle on this, open Task Manager and turn to the Startup tab. That gives you a high-level view of all the software that starts along with Windows. Do you really need all that?

The less obvious way is to keep your PC free of malware and non-malicious exploits, which will use up as much of your PC's resources as they can.

Windows 10 will run decently with 4 GB of RAM, but it will be faster with 8 GB of RAM. You'll only need more than 8 GB if you have applications that use a lot of memory.

The amount of free space on your hard drive has no effect on the amount of work you've given your PC to do. In general, the way to keep your computer running as quickly as it can is to learn how to use it well.

    Hello Lvr19,

Is your PC a laptop or a desktop? Also, do mind if you sent your specs?

    Thanks.

    Hello Lvr19,

Have you tried running Windows Defender to make sure you don't have any viruses or malware? Harmful programs may run in the background without you even noticing, taking performance.

Also, you can try to change your power plan to performance mode instead of balanced. Note: This will result in more power being drawn.

Deleting files or creating free space does not affect the speed of your PC. Replacing the magnetic disk with an SSD makes a big difference.
