Step 1:
In the search bar type Streaming. When the Media Streaming Options item appears, click on it;
If the feature is not yet active, click the Enable Media Streaming button;
The Media Streaming Options screen will appear. Note that it displays the computer and another device with DLNA support, in this case, a TV. On this screen you can prohibit or allow access to the service by clicking on the arrow next to the device and choosing between Allowed and Forbidden. For everything to work correctly, make sure that the devices involved are as Allowed;
The default setting is enough for everything to work. But if you have difficulty viewing the contents of the PC on the TV, click on the Customize link ... next to it. On the screen that appears, check the option Make all media from my library available on that device. Finally, click OK to confirm and return to the Media Streaming Options screen.
In case the behavior continues I suggest that you go to your computer manufacturer's website and update the Wireless Network (Wi-Fi) driver in compatibility mode.
Step 2:
Update the Wireless Network (Wi-Fi) driver in compatibility mode
Go to your computer manufacturer's website to download the video driver compatible with the Windows 8.1 operating system and perform the steps below:
Right-click on the driver icon, choose the option to resolve compatibility issues;
Click try recommended settings;
In the new window described as troubleshooting programs compatibility, click the option to test the program;
At the end of the test, click on Next;
On the next screen click Yes, save these settings for the program;
And lastly click on close troubleshooting.
Step 3:
Prepare your devices
If your computer is running Windows 10, and your wireless video is compatible with Miracast, you are ready to add wireless video to your computer to establish the connection and start projection.
But if you upgraded your computer to an earlier version of Windows, make sure it is compatible with Miracast and is ready for projection. In addition, if the video you are going to project is not compatible with Miracast, set it up by adding extra hardware before starting the projection.
Check if the computer is compatible with Miracast.
Click the Start button and tap Devices.
Touch or click Projector. When the Add a wireless video option appears, the computer is compatible with Miracast.
- If the computer is not compatible with Miracast, try to design using a wired connection. To learn more, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows?ui=...
Driver is software that a device uses to run on the computer. If you upgraded your computer from an earlier version of Windows, you may want to install the latest drivers available for your computer. There are two ways to do this.
Make sure Windows Update has installed all important and optional updates on your computer. To learn more, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows?ui=...
Check the Support page on the computer manufacturer's website and install the drivers yourself. To learn more, see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bai...
Step 4:
Add the video to establish the connection
With your computer and video ready for projection, add wireless video to your computer. Both devices must be within range, which usually happens when they are in the same environment.
To add a wireless video to your computer:
Click the Start button and tap Devices.
Click Projector and Add a wireless video.
Choose the wireless video from the list of found devices and follow the instructions on the screen.
Step 5:
Project your screen on a wireless video
After adding wireless video to your computer, you can project your computer screen on that device and change the content of each screen.
To project the screen:
Click the Start button and tap Devices.
Touch or click Projector and the desired wireless video.
Step 6:
To choose the content of each screen
Click the Start button and tap Devices.
Tap or click Projector and choose one of these options:
Computer screen only. You see everything on the computer. (When you are connected to a wireless projector, this option changes to Disconnect.)
Duplicate. You see the same things on both screens.
Extend. You see everything broadcast on both screens and you can drag and move items between them.
Second screen only. You see everything on the connected screen. The other screen appears blank.
Step 7:
Disconnect from a wireless video
If you move the computer out of wireless video range (for example, change environments) or suspend or hibernate the computer, both devices will be disconnected. You can also manually disconnect the wireless video.
Click the Start button and tap Devices.
Touch or click Projector and Disconnect.
You can solve many problems by installing the latest drivers for your computer and the most updated firmware for your wireless video or Miracast adapter. To learn more about installing drivers on your computer, see Download and install drivers in Windows 8.1 (microsoft.com)
To update the firmware on your wireless video or adapter, go to the Support section of the manufacturer's website, search for the specific device and follow the instructions to download and install the firmware. You can also see if the Windows Store offers an application from the manufacturer of the wireless video or the Miracast adapter that updates the firmware.
