Windows media overlay with MS teams (or any app!)

Hello!

I've followed posts like https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-i-remove-the-volume-media-overlay-banner/a456e7f3-4811-4278-b6e5-48ce7f9f9072  and https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-disable-the-new-volume-overlay/4625e08e-6b66-434f-848f-6921e757f1e8 to disable the massive media player popup, and they work great! But recently Microsoft Teams seems to have implemented this feature as well, and I can't figure out how to turn it off.

Does anyone know how to disable this? And is there a way to disable it for ALL apps, not just Chrome, Edge, and Teams? I don't ever anticipate wanting it, it takes up so much screen real-estate, and my keyboard has hotkeys for skipping songs anyway.

EDIT: Months later, it re-enabled the media overlay! It's been disabled since late November, but now it reappeared! Checking chrome and edge, they still have it disabled (in their about:flags pages), so I don't know what's going on.

Who in Microsoft thought this was a good feature to be permanently enabled in Windows 10?

And why is it that there's no global flag in Windows 10 to disable Media Volume Control Pop-Up for *ALL* apps?

Was this something that Microsoft surveyed and found that a majority of users *demanded* it, or was it something that the devs woke up one day and thought it was a good idea although nobody likes it or asked for it, and decided to ram it down our throats thereafter with no way of disabling it?

After disabling for Chrome and Edge, have you restarted the browsers?

please note it has nothing to do with browser, but Microsoft Teams application. when the application is running, hitting hardware "play" button would display media overlay as on the screenshot + starts to play ringing tune (not desired even if the would be focused)

Same here, this is so annoying!!!!

Everytime I press the play button, Teams stay playing your ringtone over my music.

We urgently need to have an option to disable this in the settings. In addition, the team needs to fix this bug.

Completely agree! This is terribly annoying and prevents me from being able to reliably control my music with my media keys. It now takes me extra time to switch over to my media software (usually either Amazon Music, Groove, or Plex) and then locate and click the pause or play button. What a pain!!

I have already disabled it for Chrome and Edge, but it's still showing up, now with the image you can see in the attached screenshot.

Teams isn't playing any audio or video currently, but the App is open.
