Never tried, but if you setup the camera and start recording all you need do is turn the monitor off... don't you ?
The monitor has no impact on the recording process.
Or, go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Turn Off Displayand select how many minutes before
the monitor sleeps.
