I have 3.87 RAM on the primary computer (as said above.) A basic Google search says Windows 10 needs a minimum of 2 gigs.
Under Storage, it says I have 931 GB. 50.1 used. 881 available.
I bought the computer I could afford. It should be able to run Windows 10 that came pre-installed.
"What are the main things you want your computer to be able to do?"
I use FireFox for Facebook, Illyriad (low graphic browser strat game,) and Google research primarily.
I use Chrome for Celtx which is a nasty program but I don't have a better script PDF option.
I use LibreOffice and Scrivener. Both of those programs operated perfectly fine under previous versions of Windows and shouldn't cause any problems at all.
My other computer is primarily for YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Amazon music and occasional DVDs. Kindle for PC. Another low graphic browser game. It has about as much memory usage from writing files.
I also have Steam but it won't reasonably run anymore. Not since upgrading to Windows 10. When it updates, Steam is one of the things it consistently disables. I have to reinstall games. After one update, Windows 10 disabled FireFox and even MS Edge. I
had to use Chrome until the next update reversed the damage.
I'm not using my computer for anything high end. On rare occasions I create graphics in Paint. Most of what I do involves writing stories and the files those programs create are minuscule compared to my hard drive size.
The problem is Windows 10 gobbling system resources for no apparent reason. I can be running nothing and it will suddenly start gobbling. Or I will be using FireFox and the Task Manager claims it's using excess amounts of resources, so I close FireFox completely.
But the resources are still not available because it wasn't FireFox it was Windows 10. I have the same problem with other programs. The Task Manager blames them for resource usage that are still in use when I close the programs.
I have run anti-virus. Webroot says there's no problem. I can't reasonably use Spy bot search and destroy anymore because Windows 10 disables it.
For the umpteenth time, the problem is Windows 10.
