Hello,

i recently noticed a folder in my D drive called Mono.

I cant remember to have installed it nor what it is for, looking through the forums etc it seems to be either for some programming tool or a virus.

How can i determine wich one of this could it be?

My Anti virus doesnt seem to see it as a threat but looking at the properties it has no entries in most parts

If someone with a bit more computer knowledge can help me out here id be glad for the help.

Hi, I'm Elise, an independent advisor and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

It might be for the Mono framework (https://www.mono-project.com/). I would suggest having a look though the folder and see if there is any documentation in there which might confirm this?

    Kind Regards,

    Elise

    Hello Elise,

    Thanks for your replie.

i cant find any documentation on the files however i found a "mono 2.0" file wich would link up to the framework programm you mentioned as it had a "mono 2.0" update like 10 years ago.

I also noticed that there is an "System" and an "System64" folder on the same drive that shares the same timestamp (to the exact minute)

these files are supposedly from "Microsoft Corporation".

So i assume it is "safe" considering the coincidence of the time.

Might have been installed through some programms i had to use for school.

    Anyway thanks for your help.

    Kind Regards
