Windows 10: how to disable Cortana

If you don't want the Cortana app to continue working, you can disable it directly in the Windows 10 “Settings” menu.

Step 1: open the Windows start menu and click open the "Settings" menu.

Step 2: with the menu open, click on “Applications”.

Step 3: in the “Applications and features” item, look for the Cortana app and select it. It cannot be uninstalled directly from the settings menu, so click on “Advanced options”.

If you want to remove the Cortana app from your PC, you'll need to run a command line in Windows PowerShell.

Step 1: in the Windows start menu, look for “Windows PowerShell”. Right-click and run it as an administrator.

Step 2: copy and paste the command without quotes in the editor: “Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.549981C3F5F10 | Remove-AppxPackage ”. This command will remove the Cortana app on the current Windows 10 user.

Step 3: If you want to remove the app for all Windows 10 users from your PC, use this command without the quotes: “Get-appxpackage -allusers * Microsoft.549981C3F5F10 * | Remove-AppxPackage ”.
