Can't open access control editor. Unable to perform a security operation on an object that has no associated security.

I have been downloading a game recently that hasn't been working and when I try to install it it doesn't work. So I initially tried to delete the file and restart, but it will not let me change the ownership to me because of the error "Can't open access control editor. Unable to perform a security operation on an object that has no associated security." Any fix for thing anyone?

    Hi dylstarmccurdie

I am Louie, a Microsoft Community member and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I hope I can help you on your concern.

Could you please try turning off the User account Control settings. and verify if it will provide you access (it can be perform in the Control panel or in the Registry).

    In Control Panel:

    1. Type UAC in the search field on your taskbar.
    2. Click Change User Account Control settings in the search results.
    3. drag the slider down to Never notify and click OK.
    4. Reboot your computer for the change to take effect.

    In Regedit:

    1. Type REGEDIT in the search field on your taskbar.
    2. Click REGEDIT in the search results.
    3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
    4. Select System.
    5. Find and doubleclick EnableLUA
    6. Change its Value data to 0
    7. click ok.
    8. Reboot your computer for the change to take effect.

    Sincerely

    Louie
