Hello,

I can't reinstall the Microsoft Print to PDF printer.

I did everything that is recommended in several sites, even some Microsoft support blogs, but I can't make it work again (it worked fine until some days ago).

The process I'm following is:

  • Features and applications (in control panel)
  • activate / deactivate Windows fatures
  • check Microsoft Print to PDF option

then Windows looks for necessary files and fails when attempts to apply changes.

The error is 0x800F0922.

I tryed updating Windows, restarting the PC, etc... with no success.

My Windows specs are:

  • Edition: Windows 10 Home Single Language
  • Version: 2004
  • Installed: 11/24/2020
  • OS version: 19041.662
  • Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0

Thanks!!

Sebastián Rey Sumay

    Hi Mario,

Going back to a previous windows update finally fixed the problem.

Nevertheless, it wasn't a staightforward solution. I had to do the following:

    • deactivate Microsoft Print to PDF feature,
    • restart pc,
    • activate both Microsoft Print to PDF feature,
    • activate all .NET features.

Thank you very much for your help.

I don't know how I'll deal with future windows updates, but this is another matter.

    Thanks and regards,

    Sebastián.

    Thanks a lot, Mario,

I followed the steps you suggested to me and the 'Microsoft Print to PDF' printer appeared in the list.

Nevertheless, the installation is still failling.

When the add-printer-feature tries to install the 'Microsoft Print to PDF' driver, it fails and shows this error: "printer driver not installed, file not found".

I will follow your other suggestion and I'll try to get Windows back before the last update.

Thank you very much & regards,

    Sebastián.

Your method 1 endeed fixe my error 0x800F0922 problem.

Eventhough, I'm still having problem to reinstall the Microsoft Print to PDF printer.

When I try to manually install it, the Microsoft Print to PDF option doesn't appear in the list of available Microsoft printers.

    The process I'm ussing is:

    • Add printer
    • The printer I look for is not listed
    • Manually add local printer
    • use PORTPROMPT port
    • select Microsoft manufacturer -> Microsoft Print to PDF doesn't appear in the associated list.

Recent Windows update changes around 2020/11/24 were:

    • 2020-11 cummulative Windows 10 version 2004 (I can't find its ID but I remember this update because the installation process lasted almost an hour)

    Sebastián
