Windows 7 updates error 8007000E

I recently did a clean reinstall of Windows 7 on an old Lenovo laptop.  All went well, but WIndows updates had several errors.  By reading several posts here, I was able to get SP1 installed.  But now I get error 8007000E which I can't seem to resolve.  Some of the listed troubleshooter tools seem to be no longer available.

BTW, Windows 10 is not an option on this old laptop.  Tried it but I seem to have graphic compatibility problems.

Suggestions for next steps?

Thanks,

MikeTinVA

The default version of the Windows Update Client is an outdated one. Install KB3138612.

It's OK if MSE is fine with its updates. :)

Thanks,  I will attempt to install them.

Also, can you confirm, it looks to me that Microsoft Security Essentials is getting updates and functioning OK as AV protection.  Is that the case, or should I install AVG or something else?

    Thnks

You're welcome. You may want to install KB4474419 and KB4490628 next in order not to run into

    0x800b0109 and 0x80092004. :)
