MSI X-570 A PRO

AMD Ryzen 7 3700x

AMD RX 6800

Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 8GB x 2

I've been having an issue with dxgkrnl.sys causing some fps spikes and audio drop out/pops, i have tried reinstalling windows, reinstalling drivers for motherboard and my GPU, Changing ram timings in bios and using a different monitor, all to no avail

i'm sure it's something to do with fullscreen because it doesn't happen if i game in windowed mode.

Hoping to get some feedback on what i can do to try fix it.

CONCLUSION

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates.

LatencyMon has been analyzing your system for  0:00:23  (h:mm:ss) on all processors.

MEASURED INTERRUPT TO USER PROCESS LATENCIES

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The interrupt to process latency reflects the measured interval that a usermode process needed to respond to a hardware request from the moment the interrupt service routine started execution. This includes the scheduling and execution of a DPC routine, the signaling of an event and the waking up of a usermode thread from an idle wait state in response to that event.

Highest measured interrupt to process latency (µs):   27696.90

Average measured interrupt to process latency (µs):   12.424255

Highest measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs):       27693.90

Average measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs):       9.580774

 REPORTED HARD PAGEFAULTS

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hard pagefaults are events that get triggered by making use of virtual memory that is not resident in RAM but backed by a memory mapped file on disk. The process of resolving the hard pagefault requires reading in the memory from disk while the process is interrupted and blocked from execution.

NOTE: some processes were hit by hard pagefaults. If these were programs producing audio, they are likely to interrupt the audio stream resulting in dropouts, clicks and pops. Check the Processes tab to see which programs were hit.

Process with highest pagefault count:                 onedrive.exe

Total number of hard pagefaults                       93

Hard pagefault count of hardest hit process:          71

Number of processes hit:                              7

just experienced some there on windows 1909 but it might be AMD because the results are different.

edit: Seems to be running smooth after that first hiccup, must of been windows.

I just had a mini spike not playing a game just watching a stream it's getting tedious the audio pop is awful.

been thinking about going to back to windows 7 or maybe going back to an older version like you said, I will reply if i find a fix, appreciate the help.

So after some experimenting with device manager I can simulate the spike by disabling my network adapter, not sure if that's any use to anything but hopefully this is the culprit.

    Hey thanks for the reply.

I followed your steps and still no luck, it only happens with Fullscreen it's perfectly fine windowed or borderless windowed.

Hi, I'm Israel M., I'm an independent consultant.

    Welcome to the Microsoft community!

The mentioned error dxgkrnl.sys refers to the Video Card driver.

What manufacturer and model of your Video Card?

What was the previous operating system?

To solve your incident, I suggest the execution of the procedures below.

    Clean boot.

    1. Press the Windows + R keys, type MSConfig and click OK.
    2. On the Services tab, click Hide Microsoft Services.
    3. Click Disable All.
    4. On the Program Startup tab, click Open Task Manager.
    5. Disable all applications, one at a time.
    6. Apply the changes and restart the equipment.

Note: This process will not affect the functioning of your applications, they just will not start with the operating system. Later, you can activate them again.

    Update the drivers.

Access: the AMD website for downloading and installing the drivers available for Windows 10.

    Disable the video driver.

    1. Press the Windows + X keys and click Device Manager.
    2. Under Display Adapters, right-click the driver and then click Disable.
    3. After deactivating the driver, restart the system and check if the Blue Screen will be displayed.

    Reinstall the video driver.

    1. Press the Windows + X keys and click Device Manager.
    2. Under Display Adapters, right-click the driver and then click Uninstall.
    3. After uninstallation, restart the system to have Windows Update install the driver automatically.

If the manufacturer does not have a driver compatible with Windows 10, install it in Compatibility Mode.

    1. Download the driver for the latest operating system.
    2. Right-click the driver icon and then click Properties.
    3. Click the Compatibility tab.
    4. Select Run as Administrator and choose the operating system for which the driver was originally developed.
    5. Run the driver installation and check its operation.

If the answer helped in any way, please mark it as an answer, if your question has not been resolved, please post again.

I hope I helped, I await your return.
