Is there a way to repair Windows 10 without loosing all my data?

I tried running the startup repair but the system says it can't fix the problems.  Is there any other way to fix Windows without loosing everything?  I don't have the installation media because the company that did the install kept it and I don't have a recovery USB either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Norma

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

    1

Have you tried all options in the Recovery Environment, all options in there are non destructive to your data . . .

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see of Windows will boot . . .

If the option exists to uninstall the latest Windows 10 update, that would be the best option . . .

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

Upon restart, press 4 to enter Safe Mode

Once in Safe Mode, backup your data if you do not already have a backup

Open Device Manager and check to make sure all your Drivers are up to date

Reboot to see if Windows will start Normally

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps

    Then start the Reset

    2

If the above does not get Windows 10 up and running, then you will need to create a bootable Windows 10 USB on another working PC, then boot your PC up from that and rather than choosing to re-install Windows 10, choose 'Repair this Computer' and run the Recovery Environment form there . . .

    Click this link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS) to begin installing Windows 10

    Hi,

If it comes to the worst, you could use the Command Prompt available with the Repair or Installation Media Repair function to copy the files you want to save...

    Copy\Paste From Bootable Command Prompt...

This basically works the same as any Copy\Past Function...

The screens that you work from just look different...

The drives letters will be different than from within Windows,

but their names will be the same..

    Boot computer from installation media...

Select "Repair" on the lower left of the "INSTALL" screen...

    Select Troubleshoot.... Command Prompt

Enter NotePad into Command Prompt and hit Enter...

Click on "FILE" Tab and select "OPEN"

Click on ThisPC or use the Dropdown menu to browse to the files you want to copy...

Right click on desired files and select "Copy" as normal...

Browse to the location you wish to save the files and select "Paste", again as normal...

Ignore anything on the bottom of the window concerning "SAVE", "CANCEL", "File Type", and ETC...

If you backup your data to a location outside your computer, like an external hard drive, you can do whatever is needed to your computer - even if that means erasing the hard drive and starting over from scratch - without fear of losing a thing.
