Hello,

I have been facing this issue of not able to charge the laptop up to a full 100%. It charges from 75% to 80% and I have to repeatedly unplug and plug it to get it to 94%.It refuses to charge beyond this level. I have tried the troubleshooting option, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, calibrating the battery, tried to reset the power plan to default and even tried to find an option about "battery life"(which was not there in my laptop but I found on other forums) in the BIOS but they were of no use. I used the diagnostic tool to check if there was any problem with the battery. It reported that the battery was fine. Please help me with this issue.

Laptop Model: HP Pavillion X360 convertible

Windows version: Windows 10 x64

Hello, my name is Marco and I am an Independent Advisor. I will do my best to help you.

Some manufacturers put a load limit on the battery (e.g. 80%) because this would extend the life of the battery.

    So, try this

Right-click the battery icon in your system tray and choose “Power Options.”

    Select " Hight performance "

Reboot pc and check if the laptop is charging up to 10.

    Hello K0MB,

Thank you for your reply, but my laptop is always at high performance during charging. It switches to better performance on the battery and automatically switches to high performance when on charge. I have kept this preference for a year and I have still been facing this issue. Now it's charging up to 88% only.

And if you are referring to the power options in the control panel there is no high performance option in my laptop as I have shown in the screenshot. There is only one option which is the recommended one.

There is an option to make a custom plan where I can see the high-performance option but I find its advanced settings to be no different than the recommended one. So can you please elaborate on what I have to do?

    Regards,

    S KV

    Hello K0MB,

Ok. Thanks for your opinions, really appreciate that :). But do you have any idea where is the "charge battery till 80%" option(to improve the life of Li-ion batteries)?

As I found out that Samsung and HP business laptops have a dedicated option where the user can activate or deactivate it(in BIOS which is not there in my laptop's BIOS for some reason =P).

here are the reference links where I found this out:

Battery only charges up to 80%, not 100%. - Microsoft Community

In case a laptop is not charging beyond 84%, how can I fix it in Windows 10 HP Pavilion? - Quora

    Regards,

    Hello K0MB,

I have tried uninstalling the driver "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and restarting the computer(I was not able to remove and reinstall the battery as I have already mentioned that there is no latch present at the bottom. for the battery). But it still charges till 88%.

So this also did not work out for me. :(

If there are any other methods then please post it.

    Regards

    S KV

You can try to completely drain the battery and charge overnight powered off this method usually works.
