Windows 10 media controls always showing whilst media is playing.

Hi,

Whenever I have an application open and playing some form of media, the windows 10 media controls overlay will appear and will not disappear unless the media stops playing. This is very infuriating since I can't listen to Spotify and also do something else without the overlay obscuring some other part of the UI. Also, strangely it stops me from using the Spotify application (changing song, and skipping but still able to play/pause) which might be a problem with Spotify itself.

Any help is welcome,

Cheers.

    Hi Zemy

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

There is no one setting in Windows 10 to turn off that annoying media bar, it is an application specific setting:

    1

    Spotify:

Go to 'Options' and disable the 'Desktop overlay when using media keys' feature

    2

    Chrome:

In the Address bar, paste this and hit Enter:

    chrome://flags

On the resulting page, type media key in the search box

    Disable 'Hardware Media Key Handling'

    Restart Chrome

    3

    Edge:

In the Address bar, paste this and hit Enter:

    edgee://flags

On the resulting page, type media key in the search box

    Disable 'Hardware Media Key Handling'

    Restart Edge
