How To Adjust Maximum Counts of Clipboard History - Win 10 version 1909

I have Windows clipboard history turned on, Using the Windows + V shortcut I can access my windows clipboard history. The problem is I can only ever see 2 counts of clipboard history instead of the maximum of 25. Is there a way I can reset the clipboard history back to 25?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Chris

    Hi Chris,

I totally agree with you. After doing some further digging. It appears you are right. Clipboard history will only allow these images if it is less than 4mb in size.

    Here's the reference topic:

"Clipboard history first appeared in Windows 10’s October 2018 Update (Version 1809). Currently, Clipboard history supports text, HTML, and images less than 4 MB in size. Larger items won’t be stored in the history."

Thank you very much for your reply. I tried turning the clipboard on and off but there is no change. However, after checking some things, I think I know what the problem is. When I copy text or small sized pictures more items are appearing in the clipboard. So I think the problem is that by default when a picture is greater than a certain size then fewer items will appear in the clipboard history. My screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 so a typical screenshot will have a large file size.

So there may be no solution unless in the future, Microsoft allow pictures with larger sizes to be stored in the clipboard history.

    Kind regards

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Good day! This is Jhakesong an Independent Advisor and I will be happy to assist you with this.

You mentioned that you were only able to see 2 counts of items in your Clipboard History.

Give these a try. There is no way to reset the clipboard history feature itself, but try to Turn it OFF and Turn it back ON.

    1. Go to search, type Clipboard press Enter
    2. Under Clipboard history, move the slider from ON to OFF then Turn it back ON
    3. Click Clear from the bottom part.
    4. Give it a try again.

Since this is windows feature, if the issue still persists, Try running this command in CMD.

    1. Go to search, CMD, open command prompt as Administrator
    2. Type this command:

    dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth press Enter

    1. Wait for the process to finish and check if the issue still persists.

If the above don't work, Try creating another user profile and see if the same issue is present on the new account.

Let me know how it goes, Have a great day.
