Problem with Microsoft update, Lenovo Ideapad 3 15IIL05 81WE011UUS

When I attempted the Microsoft updates on 9 December, the updates downloaded and the install process seemed to work OK, but the required restart shows Working on Updates and the % counter ... then after 100 %, it showed We couldn't complete the updates undoing changes ... It successfully removed the changes and all was OK until automatic updates attempted the updates again and the same thing happened. For now, I have postponed the updates but eventually I would like a more permanent solution. I am trying to see if the problem is with a specific update.  I downloaded KB4586853 from the Microsoft update catalog and attempted to install just the one update, and the same problem occurred.

I have a new Lenovo laptop Ideapad 3 15IIL05 81WE011UUS Intel i3 10th gen dual core ... I reinstalled Windows 10 from the Microsoft .iso 20H2 v2 x64 (English) ... Everything else works OK. I upgraded the BIOS to EMCN42WW from the Lenovo downloads. No problems with hardware are showing in Device Manager.

No Lenovo updates on my system.  I downloaded KB4592438 from the Microsoft Update Catalog and tried to install it as a standalone.  Result was the same (Undoing changes ... backed it out successfully).  I think Microsoft is working on problems in this update and may release a new version in January.  I tried the DISM and sfc tools and I also did a clean restart before the update.  I renamed the system folders as some of the procedures for problem updates have suggested.   None of this helped.  Thanks!

    Thank you for the informations.

First of all I wish you happy holidays!

Try running the Lenovo tool to check for necessary updates on your computer.

If you have any updates please do them all, after that try again to update Windows.

I downloaded and run that file. I get "Thank you for updating to the latest version of Windows 10"

Thanks! (Updates were paused -- same result with updates resumed).
