Windows only recognizing the headphones portion of my headset?

Whenever I plug in my Astro A10 Headset, Windows has no trouble detecting that I have plugged in my headphones, but when I check the sound devices on my Control Panel, it says that the Jack Mic isn't plugged in. I've tried plugging the headphones into another computer and it detects both just fine, so it's not a hardware issue. I've updated all of the drivers to all of the involved devices and restarted my computer about 5 times. I've set the headphones as default. My best guess is that I may have inadvertently checked that I plugged in headphones and not a headset when I first plugged them in, but I don't know how to change that setting.

    Hey Igor,

I appreciate the response, but I doubt this problem has to do with the headphones, as they have connected as a headset before with no problems. I just don't know how to make this headset register as the headset that it is rather than just the headphone portion. I also have only one audio jack for Headphones and the Microphone, so unfortunately a splitter would not work.

In this case pleas ask your PC manufacturer's support for 5Pole Jack compatibility.

    Hi,

I'm Independent Advisor not Microsoft employee or support person. I have deep enough Windows knowledge and you may trust me. It's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.

Headset specification says: Connection: 3.5mm 5Pole Jack.

A lot of PCs can accept only 3pole jacks so microphone is not connected. In this case you need to use splitter to two 3pole jacks or 3pole+2pole jacks.
