I bought a LifeCam HD-3000 earlier this year.  It worked briefly and now it doesn't.  Windows 10 couldn't reenable it, so I uninstalled the driver and then intended to reinstall.  However, I find there is no driver for this device for Windows 10 available from Microsoft!!  But the info on the pack says it is compatible with Windows 10??? What is going on?  Are you guys serious?

OK - if you right click on the download link at https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-in/d/lifecam-hd-3000 and 'open link in new tab' it downloads - simply clicking on it doesn't work (not in Chrome anyway).

So then, a window opens that says 'This software is not supported on this operating system version and some features might not work.'

    This is simply not acceptable.

The product info says it IS compatible with the operation system I am running (Windows 10).  But your solution says it is not.  The labelling is outright dishonest and I say shame on Microsoft for their outright lies.  Why do I have to go through this rigmarole because of Microsoft's incompetence and dishonesty?  This is meant to be a simple 'plug and play' product.

Most of the world had been running Windows 10 for years by the time I bought this product, which was dated May 2020.  Windows 10 was released 5 years before this in 2015!!!  Why is there no Windows 10-compatible driver for a brand new product sold in May 2020 by Microsoft themselves - a situation contradicted by their own label info on their product?

    It beggars belief.

I intend to make a complaint with the Australian ombudsman.  It is basically fraud.  But what a massive waste of time.  If only Microsoft could be honest.

    Hi SimonDanielsen_Astrebla,

Good day! This is Jhakesong an Independent Advisor and I will be happy to assist you with this.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this inconvenience. Currently there are no drivers for Lifecam HD-3000 for Windows 10. But, you can still make this work by downloading the windows 7 driver and running it in compatibility mode.

    Here's the download link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-in/d/l...

    1. Download the application
    2. Right click on it, select Properties.
    3. Go to Compatibility tab
    4. Place a check in the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for, Select Windows 7 from the drop down.
    5. Proceed with the installation.

Let me know how it goes. Have a great day!

    Thank you for your reply.

First of all, I would say this is still not right.  I would have happily bought a different product if it had been identified on the box that this is clearly not a Windows 10 compatible product.  Running it in compatability mode is not an acceptable solution

    • I want a product that is compatible with Windows 10 and the info on the label says this product is.  The date on the product says 05 2020 and it appears this problem has been around before this - so I would say this is clearly dishonest marketing on Microsoft's behalf.

Second - when I click on the download link at https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-in/d/lifecam-hd-3000 nothing happens - certainly, there is no file in my download folder - my screen flickers but I get no file and no window opens asking me if I want to save or open, and no message saying the download has been blocked or otherwise.  Nothing happens beside a screen flicker. What do I do from here?  How do I proceed to your step 2?  Where is 'it' the thing I am supposed to click on?

I bought and used this same camera with Windows 10 since July 2020 teaching High School; it worked great up until this week with no compatibility issues.

The issue is a recent Windows update (for me 12/27/2020) when all of the sudden it isn't even recognized.  I did have updates paused for some time due to the fact that I was teaching classes and couldn't afford to have an update interfere with online distance learning. My sound completely went out with the update as well.

I completely agree that this camera was sold and advertised as being compatible with Windows 10 in the US, so therefore the response is warranted.

Also, because Windows 10 shows this camera as having an error now, there is NO Compatibility Tab showing in the properties screen.
