Windows crashes when installing Logitech G Hub or Corsair iCue software

This morning, Logitech G hub, which was installed and functioning well for months, was no longer opening. I attempted to fix the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the program. When reinstalling, windows crashed. I repeated this process to the same result.

Assuming the issue was with G hub, I switched to a corsair mouse and attempted to install Corsair's iCue driver. This also crashed my PC. It seems that the issue is with windows. A search did not seem to turn up anyone else with this issue, but has anyone else had this problem? Not sure what to do to fix it. I was able to install other programs, it seems to be specifically driver software that won't install.

    Hi,
Having just purchased the LOGITECH G915 keyboard, LGS no longer worked so I uninstalled LGS and replaced it with LGHub … well at least I tried. Everytime I installed LGHub, it would get about half way and freeze, complete computer lockup and I had to hard start each time. Sometimes I would have a LGHub shortcut on the desktop, sometimes I didnt. I tried all the fixes including those here. Tried running the key key executable components as administrator, that sometimes brought LGHub up and I could configure my keyboard but then when I restarted, I lost all the setup data and LGHub came back with DLL errors. Frustrated, and as a last resort, I did a complete clean install of Win10 and guess what? … exactly the same errors everytime. I even tried reverting to LGS with the same result.
Then I chanced across a blog which had a unique way of at least diagnosing the problem. Instead of trying to reinstall LGHub yet again, the author (sorry, but I lost the link so cant acknowledge the person) suggested a simple test … open “DEVICE MANAGER” and “SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES” … and about a minute in, the computer frozen in exactly the same way as the LGHub froze every time during install. So, as the author deduced, LGHub conducts a hardware scan looking for your Logitech devices as a part of the install … and freezes! Must be a USB conflict?? … No! … well not in my case. The author said that in their case it was their BLURAY/DVD/CD player plugged into an onboard SATA port! So, I unplugged the SATA cable from my drive, restarted the computer and ran the SCAN FOR NEW HARDWARE again … seconds later the scan finished and all was good. So … tried to install LGHub again, and in a minute or two the program installed successfully … my Logitech devices were found and everything was good … except, I still haven’t plugged my drive back in … but that’s another journey!
Hope this little trick works for you too … it came after about a week of frustration and fault finding for me … thank you to whoever it was that posted this fix!!!

    Yes.

First, i recommend against runnung driver diagnostic- this led to a BSOD loop and forced me to reinstall windows.

The problem cropped up again shortly after the reinstall, and the following seemed to fix it.

I uninstalled both the x64 and x86 versions of Microsoft C++, and reinstalled with the latest version off of Microsofts website. I also rolled back a few weeks of windows update. I am unsure which of these actually solved the issue, so feel free to do one at a time.

Then, uninstall and reinstall ghub or icue, whichever you're struggling with. Since the program refuses to run, you will need to delete the folders manually: both the one in your C: program files AND the one in the hiddeb app data file. I am not at my pc and can't walk you through accessing that if you don't know how, but a quick google should gove you clear enough instructions.

Hope this fix works for you too-

Thank you for letting me know what helped you, just for the future people that may have this issue ill let you guys know what fixed it last time (this happened to me a month ago and I did a lot to fix it)... as he mentioned above c++ seemed to be causing the issue and I reinstalled it which fixed the issue at hand. If you have problems with removing them (which caused me the most problem, there was a more detailed guide online, I searched something like removing c++ completely) there is several file locations you need to go to remove it and might even have to go in the registry and delete them (I had to do this as well). Worked fine for a month till an update happened. (This is why I don't like updating a lot) Sadly that didn't work for me this time which ended with me being stuck on a BSOD loop (this happened when I was trying to use a restore point?!?!) and I was forced to do a clean install of windows (spoiler... it didn't help the initial crashing issue)
