I use the current version of Windows 10 Pro

Hi there! I'm Louie, a Microsoft Community member and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. Hope you're doing well and safe there.

I recommend running the troubleshooter. This tool is designed to check for any misconfiguration on your drivers and repair them for you.

In the search box on the taskbar,

    • Type audio troubleshooter, select Fix and find problems with playing sound from the results, then select Next.
    • Select the device you want to troubleshoot and then continue through the troubleshooter.

You can also launch the troubleshooter from audio Settings.

Select Start > Settings > System > Sound > Troubleshoot.

Should the issue continue, you can refer to this support article for further troubleshooting. The link has steps on how to troubleshoot sound issues in Windows 10.

I'm sorry if the steps didn't work. It seems that the issue is complex than what I expected.

It may be best if I release your question to other advisors so they can take a look at it and let them share some other ways that can fix the issue.

You take care and keep safe always.

    Sincerely,

    Louie

    Thanks for your fast reply!

Troubleshooter: I suggests disabeling all Audio Improvments. It doesn't matter if I say yes or no. Both times the window closes and Windows pats itself on the back for solving the problem. There is still only 2.0 sound from any application but now in the speakers setup I won't hear the subwoofer. The other speakers work. I have to open the Realtek Audio Console. There it has changed to Stereo. I have to change it back to 5.1. Then i can hear the subwoofer in the speakers setup again.

I've read possible solutions on your links:

    1. If I haven't overlooked something I have done all of them, as previously described, except changing the sound quality but that didn't help either.
    2. Didn't help either. Solutions were focused on not having sound at all.
