Is 8GB Ram sufficient for Windows 10 & Which DDR 3 or 4 below USD 50 budget?

I am not a tech guy, currently planning to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, some guys have suggested Windows 8.1 but most of them have told me to go for the Windows10 for I do not know what tech reasons they explained.

Now there is confusion, some guys are saying 4gb ram is enough, and some 8gb, and I am confused over DDR3 & 4, can someone suggest a reasonable RAM under $50. You can suggest specs, while I am looking ddr sdram from hereI still need input, and any other place to order online, even if refurbished versions.

I am not into gaming now, but would like to get in to it, some of the heavier versions. Should I stick to 8gb ram or would I need more, I keep need to stick with it for at least 1 year, without any further upgradation of sdram.

thanks in advance, not an urgent query, have a month to decide. ty

    Hi Mike

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

8GB of RAM is plenty for Windows 10, the operating system will use approx. 2GB+, leaving you with 5.5GB approx. for your applications or games

You cannot choose between DDR3 and DDR4, your motherboard will only take either of those, those are not swappable, I will look into the type of RAM you can install on your PC for you . . .

What is the Make and exact Model No. of your PC - that will be printed on a sticker on the bottom casing

If that is a self-build, what is the Make and exact Model No. of your motherboard

First, note that you have to be running 64-bit Windows to use more than 4GB of RAM.  Are you?

The answer is "it depends." What it depends on is mostly what programs you run. and how big are the files you use with them.  For most people, 8GB is sufficient, but if, for example, you edit large graphic files with Photoshop, it may not be.

I know very little about computer games, but there are probably some for which more than 8GB would be better.
