Clean up temporary files

Dear support,

I have a question about cleaning up the temporary files folder.

Out of own habit and security/safety, i always clean up my temporary files before each restart or shutdown of my computer.

(Using the storage tab in setting).

My question is,

Is this bad to do so often?

Or is it a good thing to do?

Or should i back it down to like, doing it once a week?

I ask this, because after starting up my PC i always clean them up and restart my PC, so that unnecessary background processes are closed.

So i would basically do it after each restart after a startup and right before i shut it down.

Thanks in advance,

Balze.

    Hi Solosuamor92

I do the exact same thing with the Firewall popups, I block them, because for the most part, you don't want applications having full access through you firewall, for the most part that is just so the applications can update in the background without annoying you with update popups, I still feel it is safer to block them on the firewall and update them manually when I choose to update them . . .

Public, means that app is allowed to access the Internet, Private means the app can only access a local network or Ethernet connection

    Hi Balze

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

Clearing up Temp Files is part of good PC Maintenance and a necessary task, however, doing that every time you use your OC is really unnecessary, once a month would be a good time interval for PC Maintenance, if you feel more comfortable doing that once a week that is fine too

    Hi Solosuamor92

Your Internet connection should always be set to Public for security reasons, not private, that setting is counter-intuitive, Public, means on the Internet, and Private means a Home Network

Yes that just means it is checking for needed features . . .

Yea, i use cable connection and for some reason my connection shows as public(active).

Idk if it was always like that or not though.

And yes, i always preas cancel on firewall popups just because most of the time the applications ask you to update if it needs them, or if you manually press "check for updates'.

I was just asking this because i found it a little strange that for some applications both public and private are still checked while i pressed cancel.

Or does that purely mean that it's checked just for the needed features?

And as last, can it be that my connection shows as public(active), due to using cable connection to the router?

Thank you for the reply, Dave

I will kick it back to once a week, since i am pretty secure about my things.

If you don't mind, i have one last question.

If you might be able to answer that.

I recently restored my firewalls to their windows default, because i felt like there were so many applications on it, that i barely even use or even knew used them(mostly xbox, ect).

I mostly always press "cancel" on firewall popups, cuz even tho it coild be a trusted application, i want to be safe.

My question on this is, if you press cancel, would it give any trouble in the application?

I ask this, because even after i pressed cancel(for example Steam), in my firewall settings it will have turned on both private and public.

(My feeling says, this might be, due that i use cable internet and not WiFi).

And as final add to this question, if it gets asked. And it should be allowed. Should i say private of public?

Since for me it shows up mostly as "public" on the allow/deny popup.

    Thanks again,

    Blaze.
