    My laptop had been slowing down and I couldn't understand why. I cleared everything that I could think of. And ran a sfc /scannow. Then I noticed an app in settings that I hadn't seen before.  It was SSOption. 

     I wasn't sure if it was malware or part of a Microsoft download.

    I took your advice and uninstalled it in the control panel and downloaded Malwarebytes.

    Malwarebytes did a scan and found several pups were hiding in my laptop.

    It appears to be some sort of malware/adware I would recommend removing it if you don't have a specific use for it.
