ACTIVATING ALL THE CORES ON MY PC

Hi, My name is Ganesh and I have a question about activating cores on my PC. I want to use NOX Emulator and to increase the performance I'd like to enable/utilize all the cores I have.

My PC specifications are as follows:

RAM:- 8GB

PROCESSOR :- INTEL CORE I3-4150 3.5GHZ

GPU: INTEL HD 4400 GRAPHICS (UPDATED)

ROM: 1TB

I am not a techy guy and I do not know what else I need to share. Can I activate all those cores in order to improve the overall performance? Will it create any problems on my PC?

Waiting for your reply!!!

    Hi! A Quora thread shows:

    "

If by enabling u mean forcing all cores to be alive then no..

No it wont damage but dont do that computer does it automatically when needed computer will itself turn on all COU cores u dont ened them all all the times..so better keep it how it is if u force all cores to be alive it will use more power and also thermal throttle COU and ur single core performance will be reduced which most apps takes advantage of yes single core or even dual core performance is much more imp than all cores on lower performance..unless the task is specially multithreded in such case Cpu will automatically turn all cores so u dont need to do that it will just drain more power and thermal throttle ur single core performance.

But if ur cores ate permanently disabled hell yes u need to enable them but not force be active all the times."

You can enable all cores by:

    1. Type msconfig into the windows search bar and open it
    2. Go to the boot tab and press advanced options.
    3. Ensure that the number of processors box is checked
    4. Select the amount of cores you like, then press ok then apply.

Refer to this link for extra detail: How To Enable All Cores in Windows (techjunkie.com)

    Thank you.

    Hi Ganesh

I am Dave, an Independent Advisor, I will help you with this . . .

By default all cores on your processor are active and you should never manually set processor cores in Windows 10, it is best to let Windows manage your processor

The Intel Core i3-4150 Processor is dual Core with 4 threads and those should already be active, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), then on the Performance Tab choose CPU

Right click the graph on that page and choose to show logical cores, are all 4 threads now visible to you?
