Windows 7 shuts down randomly in the middle of use

I am having an 8 years old pc running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. My pc shuts down randomly in the middle of normal use. Sometimes it shuts down while booting, sometimes after minutes or sometimes after hours. It doesn’t show any error message or anything else. It shuts down in safe also. At first I thought it might be because of I didn’t have a UPS and because of the great voltage fluctuation over here, but today I bought a new UPS and still the same result, random shutdown.

Please Help...!

    Hi,

So, let's get the facts right:

    • This is a windows 7 device
    • It's a Desktop PC (so not a battery issue)

Before you continue, ensure you have a backup of your data.

    1. Method 1 Turn off automatic restart
      1. Hold down the Windows key and R
      2. A Run box will now appear
      3. Type the following into the box
        sysdm.cpl
      4. Press OK
      5. Go to the advanced tab in the new window that popped up
      6. Press the settings button under startup and recovery
      7. Uncheck "Automatically restart"
    2. Method 2 Clear dust
      1. As you mentioned, this device is incredibly old. There may be dust inside the PC, try cleaning out the dust
    3. Power Supply
      1. Try cleaning out and/or replacing the power supply.

    Cheers!

    Hello everyone,

I'm writing this inform that my PC was neither having any problem of overheating nor there problem of the power supply. There was problem with the motherboard. After I changed my plug, it was running properly for some days, but again the problem started. I formatted my PC, but the problem remained. Then I got all the hardware components and the motherboard checked by a technician and got to know that the motherboard was faulty, there was a short-circuit in the motherboard. So, I've to change my motherland now with the processor and now I'm planning to have an SSD instead of a hard drive. Thanks to everyone who helped me to solve this problem. Thanks to everyone for cooperation and time.

    Thanks a lot...

    FWIW...

Have you read through the comments and tried the advices mentioned here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-7-randomly-shuts-down-in-the-middle-of/529120ad-d3d5-43e2-b9ae-1b36d6da3e18 ?

Might be good to give some more details what else you've tried so far...

Would certainly be helpful for other users who might want to help you...

Don't know why the other replier (LazerBomb) posted a link to a Windows 10 support article...

    BTW:

Did you ever solve your issue in your other thread? :

C Drive available space decreased suddenly

    You never replied...

    Hello LazerBomb,

Thank you for your reply. But, let me state that my device is shutting down, I mean that it’s just releasing the power, it’s not restarting. And automatic restart is already off. And also, I have recently cleaned the interior of the inside of the PC and it is also cleaned periodically. And now I’m thinking of replacing the power supply, as you have stated, because I tried cleaning the power supply and turning on my PC just after I saw your suggestion, but the problem prevails.

Thank You for your response once again. Please do inform if you have any other suggestions.
