Hello , and sorry for my english if i make some mistakes .

I've got a brand New Mini Pc , with i9 10880 and Windows 10 64bit

I tried to made a dual boot , or even connect my SSD DRIVE (already with Windows 7 ultimate)  , but the same things happens ...

For the dual Boot : After the Bios screen , windows is loading files from the USB ISO FILE , and then the blue screen  appears to set the langage .

Unfortunately , i'm stuck here . Why? because the keyboard and mouse disconnect . I'm not allowed to use them ( they were working fine on the bios) ..

I was thinking it was something with the USB 3.0 OR 2.0 .  My mini Pc has 4 USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 , so i'm connecting my hard drive to these USB 2.0 ports ..

For my SSD drive with Windows 7 already installed : After the Bios screen , i'm arriving at the USERS SCREEN ( administrator , guest etc)  and same thing . I can't chose because  Keyboard and mouse are not working anymore ...

This is so crazy !!!!

Windows 10 didnt have any problem with that. And i'm using the USB 2.0 port in case it's a compatibility problem ...

In My bios ,  all is enabled

Comb through the BIOS settings to see if there is a USB or other setting to enable your keyboard/mouse in the CSM/Legacy mode, or in Boot mode so you can get the installation or PAR media to boot with mouse support.

You'll have to enable CSM or Legacy Boot in UEFI Setup in order to boot Legacy Media

I finally managed to boot from disk. But guess what, I went to Paragon Recovery screen and I can't even accept the terms in license agreement.

My Keyboard and mouse are locked again. Can't do anything lol. That's crazy.

Maybe I should just give up 🤧🤕🤧

Hello and thanks for the reply.

I'm being honest, I'm a bit lost here. We're talking about 2 Windows versions... Not Ubuntu vs windows or something like that.. I don't understand why it's so complicated but you explained... I'm still surprised.

As for Windows 7, I downloaded the.ISO file from Windows and mount it with Rufus ( GPT, UEFI) on a USB drive.

Then, I started my computer hitting the del button which entered the BIOS MODE.

I found the name of my USB drive and set it as Option 1 for boot. And then it was OK....

Windows loaded and then it arrives to this screen..

My USB key was connected to an USB 2.0 port ( from my Mini PC).

Bios is in UEFI Mode already.

As for the fresh install in a new SSD. I really don't want this.

I bought a new pc with a great M2 SSD  with 2 To.  This was to split windows 7 & windows 10 drive.

My SSD with windows 7 has all my programs and my utilities since 10 years. I don't want to make a fresh install on that.

That means I should buy a New SSD again... I'm really tired of this lol. And I don't know if it will really work.

I'm asking about this Keyboard / Mouse problem everywhere and  no one seems to really understand what happening. (I'm not talking about you, since you helped me to understand a lot of things, that means you have many ideas to why it fails)

HI Wilfriedd. I'm Greg, awarded MVP for eleven years, Volunteer Moderator, and Independent Advisor here to help you until this is resolved.

Is the WIndows 7 SSD installed to UEFI on GPT formatted drive? If not then you'd need to enable CSM or Legacy BIOS in the Main or Performance (usually Advanced ) tab. This is how non-UEFI drives are able to boot alongside a modern WIndows 10 UEFI install to GPT which boots from the Windows Boot manager.

Then to trigger an enabled CSM or Legacy drive, press the BIOS Boot menu key at startup and choose the SSD by name, not Windows Boot Manager. List of these keys here: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

Also the SSD with Windows 7 will not start up without adaptive restore, like Windows 10 can. It requires removing all the drivers so that they will load from the Windows 7 Driver Store in System 32, which may not even have some of the more modern drivers your hardware requires.

So you may be better off unplugging the Windows 10 drive and doing a Clean Install of WIndows 7 to the SSD. See if your WIndows 7 media will properly boot as a UEFI device, with UEFI enabled in Setup and CSM/Legacy BIOS disabled. If not enable CSM/Legacy and boot the media, during install delete all partitions off the hard drive, choose the Unallocated Space and click Next to let it change the format to MBR and install to Legacy/CSM.

Afterwards when you plug in the WIndows 10 drive again, make sure it's set to boot first with Windows 10 Boot Manager, and then trigger the Windows 7 drive from the one-time BIOS Boot menu key choosing the SSD by make/model from the boot list.

Report back results. If the WIndows 7 installer prompts for drivers it means it needs the SATA driver inserted at prompt, or else the media is bad. Where does the media come from?
