    Thank you.

Is the device an external hard drive? If yes then it most likely requires extra power which the USB 3 ports supply but the USB 2 ports do not.

Hello, I’m Virginia an independent advisor with 20 years of expertise in fixing my own & friends’ PC problems.

    Which Windows 10 build are you running - 1903, 1909, 2004 or 20H2 (Oct 2020)?

While USB 3 ports are backwards compatible with USB 2 USB 3 devices will be extremely slow on USB 2 ports but should work.

Also the USB 3 device may not receive enough power to run it when using USB 2 so this may be the problem with your device.

You can try updating the USB drivers from the PC’s manufacturer.

Has the device been connected to the PC successfully before?
What file format is the device using - exact, fat, ntfs, or something else? Can you provide a screenshot of the device manager?

Yes it is external hard drive.

    Support USB2.0 and USB3.0.

I can see it on Device manager but not in file explorer.
