Dear Community,

I hope this email finds you well.

I am running Windows 10 Education Version 1809. I have 156 Gb SSD on it. I don't use it so much and I have only 2 Gb as my user profile with a maximum of 5 Gb. but when I open This PC the C drive shows me the red label which means it is kind of full with only 1 GB free space. I have done Disk Clean up and all the steps to gain more space but didn't work. And when I open Storage from Settings it shows me that Apps & games have occupied 115 GB but I don't have any apps & games even big software. the only software I have is Acrobat Pro. I am wondering if it is another way to gain more space??

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards

    Hi DYARIBARHAM,

Good day! This is Jhakesong an Independent Advisor and I will be happy to assist you with this.

I am sorry to hear about the inconvenience. I suggest downloading a free third party utility that will show you where and which files/folders were occupying so much space in your SSD. The app is called Treesize.

    Here is the download link:

    https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free

Download and install the app. It should show you details of your hard drive space. Once you have determined which ones eating up so much space, you can decide if you need to delete those files/folders.

Let me know how it goes. Have a great day!

    Dear JhakeSong,

Thank you for keep replying to me.

I have clicked on Apps & Games but it shows me only a few software the biggest one on size among them is Acrobat Pro which is 3 GB.

For the second method, no huge or gigantic file available.

PS: I had the same problem with another laptop with the same OS, but I re-imaged it just to get rid of it. However, this time I insist on solving it without re-imaging.

    Best regards,

    Hi DYARIBARHAM,

Thank you for your reply. The way to do that natively in windows is the same area described in your question. Settings > System > Storage

You mentioned that you have so much occupied space in Apps & games, you may click Apps and Games (Mine shows Apps and Features) and it will show you another page of installed apps and their sizes. There you can see each app size and pinpoint the ones occupying so much space and if you don't need those, you can uninstall it from there too

Another method in looking for big files is through windows explorer:

    1. Press Windows key + E, this will open Windows Explorer
    2. Click "This PC"
    3. On the "Search This PC" box, enter this syntax and press enter to search for big files,

    size:gigantic

    1. It should populate you with the list of files that have big sizes.

    Dear JhakeSong,

Thank you for your quick reply.

Unfortunately, I am not able to install third-party software as it is my organization's policy. is there another way to see that?

PS. Yesterday when I did disk-cleanup, there was 21GB to be deleted, after cleaning up and waiting more than 1 hour, I just gained only 2 GB.

    Best Regards,
