SNIPPING TOOL WINDOWS 10

The snipping tool I have is:

NEW MODE DELAY X CANCEL OPTIONS.

The cancel operation is missing.  I used it to capture a drop-down menu.

Is there an alternative that can be used to capture a drop-down menu?

1 Opened snipping tool

2 Clicked on CANCEL

3 Was then able to open a drop-down menu

4 I then pressed CTRL + PRINT SCREEN BUTTON

5 This re-activates the SNIPPING TOOL in the New Capture Mode

6 Then was able to capture the drop-down menu.

The following information is from 2016

Snipping Tool - Capture a menu

Special steps are used in the Snipping Tool to capture a shortcut menu or Start menu.

  1. Open Snipping Tool by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Snipping Tool, and then, in the list of results, click Snipping Tool.
  2. Press Esc, and then open the menu that you want to capture.
  3. Press Ctrl+PrtScn.
  4. Click the arrow next to the New button, select Free-form Snip, Rectangular Snip, Window Snip, or Full-screen Snip from the list, and then select the area of your screen that you want to capture.

over a certain length, the shown text for the URL is truncated by the system to make it easier to read, some URLs can be very long.

selecting "copy link" copies the whole URL

if you are using Firefox to read this, you should be able to simply click on the link to take you to the page.

the link i pasted in my last post was the full URL and seems to work fine here

both links you posted also work to take me to your profile page.

I don't use firefox, but cannot understand why that would return a 404 error.

this is the full URL but not as a link.

the red circle with "JO" appears next to your posts in this thread and in the top right corner of the page. (next to my posts you will see a dolphin

below is a picture from mine, clicking the icon in the top right of the window and selecting "my Profile" will take you to the same place as the link i posted.

on that page scroll down to see all threads that you have started, contributed to or are subscribed to, hopefully, this makes it easier to get back to a thread

I right-clicked in the above and went to copy link:  End result

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/profile/ebf... Did not work. I even copied it as is into Firefox and got a 404.

Sometimes on a reply with a partial URL and pasting into Firefox, it works great.

I have subscribed to the thread, so I will get an email when/if you post more information to the thread.

Thanks, the first time anyone from MS Community did this.

(or click on the round "JO" in the top right corner of the Microsoft community page) ??? Please supply an example>

I have subscribed to the thread, so I will get an email when/if you post more information to the thread. Great

Here is an example from my wife's friend whose 8.1 pc was changed without her knowledge to windows 10. Note the sample URL is complete.

You can download and install Windows 10 using the Media Creation tool which you can download for free from Microsoft's official website.https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 ****

I think the complete URLs should be supplied to make the client's life easier especially if is under a lot of pressure.

That is great. Since at times I must receive several replies and later I get a 'nasty note' that I did not reply.

I think that 'the person that responds should always subscribe to a thread, so one will get an email a nasty email from the Microsoft Community. The community should take into consideration the world load of the person asking questions. The community should make it a standard practice to know the basics of their clients.

Many years ago, when it was free and I guess just in the first steps of development, I was a member and must have replied to many questions over many years for windows 7. They had a system where the person had a ranking. I think my rank was Expert.
