Browser white screens

I've been troubleshooting this issue most of the morning and think I have gone about as far as I can go.

SYMPTOM

Whenever I try going to some (not all) webpages, I get a white screen in the browser.  This happens on all browsers - Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Brave.  I know it's not the website because it works on other computers.

I've tried all the suggested things to clear a "White screen" issue:

  • Clearing Cache
  • Disabling extensions and add-ons (I removed rather than disabled)
  • Disabling hardware acceleration
  • Setting up INETCPL as suggested to match the other PCs

I thought it might be my Anti-virus but I'm using the same setup on the other PCs.

I'm kind of at a loss, but I am convinced at this point it has to be something common to all browsers. Could be an OS issue, an INETCPL issue, or something else.

Suggestions?

*Thinking I might sweep through the "Installed Apps" and carve these down.

    Greetings MickeyMills,

I appreciate your time getting back to this , if you cannot run the tool, try to refresh it in the settings.

    -Press Windows key + X

    -Go to Settings

    -Click Update and Security

    -Click Recovery

    -Click Get Started.

There will be an option to keep your files and apps.

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.

Thank you. That did resolve the web browser issue.

A couple of caveats to that.

    1. I use a Bluetooth muse and keyboard. That reset that so when I rebooted I didn't have mouse or keyboard. Luckily I had an extra regular mouse/KB I could plug in to step through the setup.
    2. It reset my Microsoft so I had to go in and reset Office 365.
    3. None of my apps were pinned to the Status bar.
    4. I'm sure there'll be more setup issues I run across, but that's more of a nuisance than anything. Getting the browser issue fixed was paramount.

So, I'm moving forward to reset the PC to my working standard. Again, thank you for your assistance. I suspected I was going to have to reinstall Win10 but I was hoping to avoid it.

    ** Added after the above:

I notice that I have to update Win10. I'm assuming the version I reinstalled from was the original and didn't include updates. I think it important to be up to date, however my concern is that one the the previous updates was at the root of the broken browser issue. Hopefully it won[t return.

Also.... I run Outlook desktop for emails. Getting that restored and syncing was a bit of a pain.

    Good Day MickeyMills,

My name is Carlo, I'm an Independent Advisor and community member like you.

I am also using Windows 10 pc. Let us work together to sort this out.

You can try to perform Repair Upgrade.

This will re-install the Windows without affecting your files and apps, it will repair and replace any corrupted system files.

Step 1: Download Media Creation Tool from Microsoft.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

    Step 2: Run MediaCreationTool.exe.

Step 3: Choose "Upgrade this PC now".

Step 4: Select "Keep personal files and apps".

    Step 5: Let it install

I hope the information above helps. Please let me know how it goes.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
