Windows Telemetry

I've been using O&O's ShutUp10 for a long time now. I use it to disable telemetry, so I don't have to mess with the registry. After updating to the latest version of Windows 10 (OS Build 19042.804, which is the Feb. 9 update), Windows keeps turning on telemetry. Every time I open O&O's ShutUp10, it shows me this:

Why is Microsoft so hungry for personal data? Is there any way I can turn off telemetry for good?

I'm very eager to know.

Thanks,

Kai

Hello kaiyin2, how are you?

I am an independent consultant and user like you!

I'm happy to help you!

There is a way to do this! Follow the steps below:

> Press the "WIN + R" keys simultaneously to open the "Run" window

> Type "gpedit.msc", without quotes, and click "OK"

> Local Group Policy Editor window will open

> Navigate to the path below:

Computer Configuration> Administrative Templates> Windows Components> Data Collection and Preview Builds

> In the list on the right of the window, double-click "Allow Telemetry"

> Check the "Enabled" option to enable the modification

> In "Options", select option number 0 (zero) to disable.

> After choosing the settings, click "Apply" and "OK"

Let me know what happened!

    Hi,

I enabled Group Policy Editor via the script you sent me and made the changes required to disable telemetry.

I hope this works for good.

    Thanks!

You can enable Group Policy Editor in Windows 10 Home

See this topic for how to do it:

    Hi,

I currently have Windows 10 Home installed, so Group Policy Editor is not an option. Is there any other way to do this for the Home edition of Windows 10?

    Thanks,

    Kai
