Constantly needing to restart explorer.exe

I was just wondering why this happened but I don't need answers it would just be good to know why it happened.

So I just restarted my pc(running Windows 10) and the problem went away or maybe it will come back after a bit idk but the problem was that I couldn't do anything on the desktop(opening programs, drawing with the select thing cuz its cool, etc) and same with the toolbar. The logical thing for me to do is control+alt+delete and open task manager to restart explorer cuz brainz and that fixed the toolbar problem... for like a minute or so and then it came back so I did it again and the same thing happened. And this is where I am now, wondering why it happened. One reason could probably be that when I was loading a save in a game uhh... the screen of my laptop went black, the game crashed and the picture that was on the laptops screen came to my second monitor(without resizing so it looked very distorted) but after that, I restarted my pc so it shouldn't have mattered.

    Hi Dave-ThomasThomson-

I'm Kevin B. independent advisor and a Windows user like you. Thank you for sharing your concern, let me help you sort things out.

There are several reasons why it is happening on your device. There is a possibility that there is a faulty applications or corrupt system files that is currently making your toolbar faulty.

It could also cause by outdated driver software installed on your computer.

You can run a system scan to check for system files on your system.

Run a system file checker to verify the integrity of windows system files on your computer making sure that there are no corrupted files on your windows.

Perform SFC Scan and Repair Windows Image

-This process will perform scan for any corrupted system files or integrity violation and will attempt to repair it along with the Windows Image.

    1. Open command prompt with administrator access
    2. Type each command below and wait until scan is completed.

    SFC /scannow

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Quick note: While the command is running, it's expected to see the process stuck at 20 or 40 percent. After a few minutes, the process will complete successfully.

Once you complete the steps, the Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool will connect to the Windows Update servers to download and replace any damaged files in the local image for Windows 10 as necessary.

    1. Close the command prompt.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. If you have a moment, it would be greatly appreciated if you would rate my assistance in handling your ticket and have a great day!

    Cheers!
